The new Ahmedabad IPL team is named Gujarat Titans. Ahmedabad IPL team owner Siddharth Patel confirms this on February 9, 2023. The franchise is one of the two new teams in IPL along with Lucknow Super Giant that will participate in the 2023 IPL season.
Gujarat Titans is assigned the Narendra Modi Stadium as their home ground, which is the world’s largest cricket stadium. The owner of Ahmedabad IPL team is CVC Capital Partners.
The Gujarat IPL team announced Hardik Pandya as the Ahmedabad IP team captain who was released by Mumbai Indians in the IPL Mega auction. The former Indian bowler Ashish Nehra is announced as the head coach of the team.
On the other hand, India’s 2011 ODI World Cup-winning coach Gary Kirsten has been appointed as the batting coach and mentor of the team.
History Of The Ahmedabad IPL Team Gujarat Titans
The IPL’s Governing Council has invited two additional teams to compete in the league. Following that, 22 firms expressed interest in it. However, because of the high base price, only six serious bidders were able to continue.
By the way, with a $750 million bid, Corporate Venture Capital (CVC) Partners won the ownership f the franchise. CVC Partners, the Ahmedabad IPL team 2023 owner, is a British private equity company.
The auction was held in October 2023 in Dubai where the team picked hardik pandya from releasing Mumbai. The management of the team drafted him as Ahmedabad IPL team 2023 captain in the auction.
However, Gujarat Titans had three players on its roaster before the Mega auction. They are Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan, and Shubman Gill. For the three players, it is the second team they are going to play.
By the way, The Titans’ management will pay both Pandya and Rashid Khan INR 15 crore ($2.02 million), and Shubman Gill INR 8 crore ($1.07 million). As they spent INR 38 crore for their roster players, they would have spent the rest INR 52 crore for forming the entire team

The Background Of Mega Auction In Tata IPL 2023
However, Gujarat Titans have picked their first three players before the mega auction. In the mega auction, they had to form the entire team by purchasing the rest of the players.
As they spent Rs 38 crore on the first-drafted players, the team had remained Rs 52 crore for the entire team selection. Because BCCI bounded Rs 90 for every team to spend for the players.
As each team has to build the team with 25 players, Gujarat Titans had 22 remaining slots to pick the rest of the players. Among the entire selection, each team can pick 7 overseas players.
By the way, at the end of the two-day mega auction, Gujarat Titans signed 18 players. After Pandya and Rashid Khand, Titans spent the highest money for Lockie Ferguson, a Newzealand fast bowler.
However, on the first day, Gujarat picked a total of 7 players for Rs 33.15 crore. Among them, 3 are overseas players.
